BALTIMORE, MD - The Baltimore Kings have completed the signing of David Warburton to the Pro Team, making him the first Pro Team signing in club history.

The MIAA high school standout and former DC United Academy player played four years of Division I college soccer at Loyola University in Baltimore. During the 2016 summer, Warburton prepared for his upcoming senior year by playing with the Kings U-23 Team.

"After captaining our U-23's last summer to the league championship, Warburton came out to our first Pro Team tryout and proved that his consistent play, versatility, and composure on the ball stood out above the others."

The Baltimore Kings Pro Team will be holding their next tryout on February 26, 2017 at Auston All-Sports. [LEARN MORE]

2017 Season Tickets that admit fans to all Pro Soccer, Semi-Pro Futsal, U-23 Men, and Women's Team games are on sale for only $40. [LEARN MORE]

As an independent, event-based team, the Pro Team will only play a handful of games per year (e.g. 1 game in the summer, 1 in the fall, 1 in the spring, etc.) and will be allowed to play other Independents and teams across all divisions.

We will take a conservative, controlled, and personal approach to win one supporter at a time and build a successful professional soccer club in Charm City. In Baltimore's history, there have been over 20 failed professional soccer clubs. Professional soccer leagues in the United States currently do not allow for promotion and relegation among teams. Even in years immediately after winning a championship, clubs have folded. Unlike other league systems around the world, winning does not ensure longevity. Success on the field is one of many objectives for the Baltimore Kings, but more importantly it is paramount to create and maintain a strong foundation to base our achievements.

How can you sustain a pro team playing only 3 games a year??

Hey Gonzo,

Thanks for reaching out. Right now the pro soccer landscape in the U.S. is going through a complete overhaul. Teams are changing leagues and folding, leagues are moving up and all around the pyramid, and players are getting scattered. Our Independent model is different, but works for us at a time when there is a lot of instability in the sport in our country. Teams have folded even months after winning a championship. Winning does not ensure longevity in the U.S. Our goal is to create a stage for and market local players and help potentially pass them on to full-time playing opportunities. We'd love to chat further and earn your support. All the best!
